HyperLit Term Project

As you have expected, this final project (worth 40 points) will be your main effort this semester. Since we will be working through a multi-stage process to discover and focus on your individual topics, I won't assign topics. Instead, I outline below a time-table for the stages of the project, with guidelines as appropriate. Do note, however, that the final deadline for your term project is May 5th (by 5 pm).

Update your class website to include a couple of paragraphs indicating your ideas about the project's topic and design.

Précis

After consultation, draft a more formal anticipatory abstract about your project, 250-500 words. Post this on your class website, send in text form to Hyperlit, and send to me privately, named "lastname.precis.doc". Additional comments

Alpha version

Build your hypertext project in rough draft form on your class website in its own folder(s); concentrate on the overall structure and the opening gateways; you needn't complete all your planned nodes and links, but you should have the outer perimeter of the project well in hand by this point, and a majority of the spaces and links should be available for review and discussion by classmates.

Beta version

This will be the "final" version of the project that you'll be "turning in" for a term grade. At this stage everything should be completed and working, and you'll write an overview of your plans, designs, and expectations, as well as a guide for the new user, as ways of self-assessing the whole project.
Note that the due date is not flexible--I will be leaving town for two weeks on May 10th and must turn in grades before that departure.
