cryptid: the class of unknown and possibly non-existent animal species. The study of cryptids is called cryptozoology. The International Society of Cryptozology defines cryptozoology as "the science of 'hidden' animals. While paleontology discovers and describes organism of the past, cryptozoology attempts to do so for animals of the present."

dysphoria: the opposite of euphoria; an abnormal feeling of helplessness, failure and disaster.

horripilation: from horripilare, to bristle with hairs; the erection of the hair of the head or body, resulting from disease, fear or cold; goose flesh.
