Just as literary theory explores the philosophical frameworks and foundations for literature, hypertheory pursues these speculative inquiries about hypertext and hypermedia. Some of these explorations must be 'simply' technical (how does it do that?), but the reflective wandering of this terrain will also come to terms with the framing issues of desire, information, representation, and capital.
