Amanda's Postmodern Speculative Fiction Home Page

Hello! I am an English Major / Engineer here at Tech. This Home Page will show you some of my work in Professor Hatfield's Postmodern Speculative Fiction Course:

Annotated Bibliography #1 "Jorge Luis Borges Dictating: No More Time" - Robert Kiely

Annotated Bibliography #2 "Language and Late Capitalism" - Paul Maltby

It also contains my Final Project Term Paper.

For my Final Project, I chose to focus on the character of Jeannine Dadier in _The Female Man_, mostly because of a Spec that I posted on the course email list.

Many people responded: David / Joyce / Lauren / Marc

...I really appreciated (and learned from) all of the different comments, and I realized that I had to Clarify what I had written in my original message. I was still greatly disturbed / interested in the role of Jeannine in this book, and I was interested in learning a bit about the different views of some feminists.

My first precis for my final project looked like this:

First Final Project Thoughts: TITLE: Why, Jeanine?

MAJOR QUESTION: How can the character of Jeanine in Russ's Female Man be analyzed / explained using various notions of feminism? Perhaps, why did the author choose to sculpt Jeanine in the way that she did - based on the feminist notions of the author? Perhaps, how does the character of Jeanine compare to other characters created by the author in other works?

My third precis looked like this: Precis Draft Three
Since neither of these precis adequately describes what I attempted in my final project, here is a Recent Precis. It should give you a general idea of what I'm trying to find in my Final Project.
